Finally, a safety attachment for a walker!

What causes someone to tip their walker forwards or backwards?

Many times, walker users practice poor walker safety and push up to stand using the arms of their walker instead of wheelchair armrests or other seated surface. This could cause them to tip their walker backwards, putting them at an increased risk for a fall and becoming injured.

Balance disorders, weakness, pain caused by arthritis, poor walker safety caused by compulsive behaviors or cognitive deficits, and dizziness are just a few more of the many factors that could cause to lose them to tip their walker over.

What could happen to an elderly person if he or she has a fall?

Falls in the elderly are the leading cause injury-related visits to emergency departments. Many fractures could result from a fall including, but not limited to, the hip, pelvis, and shoulder. Trauma could be caused by a fall.

The fear of falling again will could result which could be a potentially debilitating consequence. This constant fear could cause decreased socialization, decreased mobility, and a depressed mood because they lose their independence. They eventually must rely on others to take care of them.

To what kind of walker does this attach?

Rolling or standard walkers (these walkers are silver) with a
one-inch tubular diameter. They do not attach to rollator or merry walkers.

For what kind of individuals are the walker anti-tippers appropriate?

Since so many persons have varying cognitive and physical deficits, we recommend that occupational and/or physical therapy practitioners make the recommendation.

Why does one need walker anti-tippers?

If someone pushes up from the handles of the walker to stand, it will decrease the risks of the walker tipping backwards. If an individual loses their balance while walking with their walker, it could prevent the walker and individual from tipping over.

Are there any other devices that help to prevent standard or rolling walkers from tipping over?

No. There are other walker attachments such as walker gliders or tennis balls that help the walker to move smoothly.

Is there a warranty on the walker anti-tippers?

There is a lifetime warranty on the walker anti-tippers. There is no warranty on the rubber tips.

Are they sold as a pair?

Yes, with the rubber tips included.
